Help us help you! Identify your windows with these helpful tips or let our experts do the work. Windows are complicated, confusing, and technically challenging in both terminology and construction.
Have I scared you yet? Relax. The biggest thing to wrap your head around is the window industry in not in a hurry. Window repair parts are not sold on Amazon on purpose! Well maybe some are, but not like what we offer. This is not a quick, instant gratification purchase. The process takes time. One little detail missed, makes the part not work.
Second, identifying windows and purchasing repair parts is a visual, tangible thing. Part A has to match part B. It can be that simple. Think back to pre-school when you had to flip over flashcards to find a matched pair. Did it matter what was on the card? NO. Your goal was to match the two pictures.
Windows are 3 dimensional. You have to feel it, touch it, examine it in your hands to understand how it fits together.
We can’t help if we can’t see what you have. We take the first step in providing you pictures and drawings on our sash catalog and other product pages to give you a visual reference of what OUR parts look like. Your next step is to determine do our parts look like what you have? Just basing your search on the brand of window (if you know that) doesn’t get us close enough since in some cases we have multiple models of the same brand available.
So, line drawings and little pictures on the internet are making you more confused. That’s fine. We need to see what you have in order to help you. Then we’ll need measurements too. Sometimes we need pictures WITH measurements to get a scale, especially with hardware. We want to help! Help us, help you reach the Quan.
When trying to determine what Fenster sash number matches your window, don’t think so hard about what brand or model it is, think more about how it looks, how it operates, and how it fits together. Measurements are important too. Many times common measurements can help determine one sash from another.

Is there a way to tell what shape my jambliners of my Malta windows are without removing them? I have a picture but don’t see where I can upload it. I want to order as soon as I’m sue which type to order- V or Square.
Donna, to my knowledge all Malta models from the 80’s through early 2000’s were the “vee” plow.
Thank you! That’s very helpful.
Ryan what is your return policy if the jambs don’t fit? Thanks!
Donna, well that never happens when customers buy the right thing, but its a 50% restocking fee and no return shipping. if you are uncertain about what to get, I highly recommend getting a window repair professional to help you with this project.
I have a sash rotting and need to repair it. The window is a casement and I think it may be a caradco as this is what was put in many homes in my area (Bloomington/Normal Illinois) in the early nineties. I cannot find any identification to help me out. There is are no numbers etched on the glass, nothing between the glass panes, nothing on the sash. Was there identification that you know of that was put on these. I was also told that Norco windows were used in this area. I have no way to identify, any suggestions? The windows are wood sash with aluminum cladding. The wood sash size is 2″ sash top and bottom with 2-1/4 sides 38-3/4 overall height with 38-1/4 for the inside (1/4″ lip top and bottom. The overall width is 22-1/4. The exposed glass is 34-3/4 height.
Hi Dennis, I’m sure we can help. Caradco or Norco no matter. Just sent some Caradcos to Normal about a week ago in fact! Here’s the thing; People way over think identifying their window. Use our model catalog. Instead of trying to find numbers and stampings or whatever, I always tell people, just look at the pictures, compare the notes. If our information matches your information, then its very likely we have a match. It can be as simple as matching one picture to another. You can always send pictures to sales@fensterusa.com and I’ll be happy to figure it out for you.
I have a double clad casement window where the bottom of one sash has rotted out. It was sold as a Caradco window but it has a label on it “JEL-N-201”. Window is about 15 years old. Should I use the Caradco information for a sash rebuild kit? I did not see JenWeld listed in your manufacturers. Thanks, Ken.
Ken, I’m not really sure on that. I can’t say I’ve seen what the JELD-WEN model looks like. That’s a little too young for our catalog yet. All I could suggest is looking at the Caradco DH listings we have in our catalog to see if they match or not.
trying to determine how to identify my current windows. House was built in 2003, I bought in 2016. House plans say ‘Pozzi specified’ under windows section. Are there any identifying marks I can look for to determine manufacturer?
There really isn’t Chuck. It’s really about how they look and how they are designed is how we identify them. Corner details and edge views are the most helpful pictures if you want to send us some. sales@fensterusa.com.
