We want to help! With Jeld-Wen discontinuing the Caradco line, Fenster Components seeks to offer former Caradco customers a solution to their failing windows.  In order to best serve our customers, knowledge is our priority. We seek sample sashes of any and all wood and wood/clad sash products produced from 1978 to 2010. We also put a call out to former Caradco Windows salespeople and distributors that may still have catalogs or specs in their possession.

Fenster Components has been engineering replications of original sash profiles for most major brands since 1999. Our catalog to date boasts over 60 casement and double-hung profiles and continues to grow with more nationwide customers seeking solutions to their rotting window issues. Our goal is to connect qualified window professionals to homeowners who need help as efficiently as possible.

We have replicated sash profiles and replacement sash for Caradco C-200, classic double-hung, and Heritage I and Heritage II primed and clad casement, complete assembled sashes are available for all primed units with clear or lowE glass. Knocked down “frame only” sashes are available for cladded units and primed units without glass. Unfortunately, replacement cladding is not available at this time, but we’re working on it!

Hi, I have Caradco casement windows from the early 90s and need to replace a crank mechanism. Can you direct me to a vendor I can contact please? I don’t really see any numbers on the part. Thanks

Please take a look at our hardware selection on our online store.

Tom, We’d love to help, but you could have a dozen different ones. We don’t know what Caradco used on their door grills. We’d need more information and a picture perhaps. You can send that to sales@fensterusa.com. Thank you.

Jim, We’d love to help you, but we are not able to process order requests through our blog. In order to respond to you appropriately, please visit our website to complete a quote request. We have 3 different Caradco casement sash profiles. We need much more information from you. I would also go on to say, we do not sell individual stiles and rails. We make an after-market replication of the original product that we do not guarantee will interchange with the original manufacturer’s joinery. There are no refunds or returns if this were to be an issue for you. We strongly recommend purchasing a frame only sash (no glass) to guarantee this best possible fit. Finally, FYI, we are closed for the holidays December 24th-January 5th. There is a slim chance we could ship an order yet before the break, but we would need an order confirmation no later than Wednesday the 17th. Please visit our website, https://fenstersusa.com, to view our sash catalog to determine the correct Caradco profile you need, and then complete a quote request with the required information. We monitor and respond to those requests daily. Thank you.

Looking for replacement window screens for Caradco windows. Any help greatly appreciated.

Brand specific screens are obsolete. We have a screen shop to make new screens. We’ll need sizes and pictures and measurements of the hardware that was used on them. You can submit that information via our website, https://fenstersusa.com, or email: sales@fensterusa.com, or local customers can bring screens to our shop.

Looking for two caradco 716 windows. Rotted out bad. This is a double hung set up. Where do I go to find these ?

Doug, All of our products are available online on our website, https://fenstersusa.com. You would looking at a stile and rail frame kit or a replica wood sash depending on your needs and window specifications. 716 is not a model number. It is the size of glass spacer. You’ll want to look at our sash catalog under Caradco and check out either the car-clad, clad or primed double hung (CCDH100), or the classic double hung (CCDH200).

I need some brick molding for several different size Caradco Wood Windows. Can you make it or tell me where to get it or buy it?

    • Ryan Schwartz

Ric, Unless you have something custom we are not aware of, you should have standard profile brick mold that can be found at any home improvement store.

I have what I think are Caradco C-200 casements, installed in 1969. “CARAD” is stamped on the spacer. What are my options for replacing fogged glass? The wood sashes seem in good shape.

Phil, Any glass shop can do that for you. Or, if you would rather wait and do it yourself, we will have an online glass ordering program available next month on our website.

If I do it myself, would I just remove the stops on the outside, take the old glass, and set the new glass into a bead of silicone caulk?

      • Ryan Schwartz

If they are in fact C-200’s, those are a boot glazed sash with a rubber gasket around the glass. You would separate the sides of the frame by the screws in the corners. Transfer the gasket to the new glass and screw the frame back together. Boot sashes are pretty simple.

    I have a Caradco Wood Casement window (Inside Measurement 19.5″ x 47.5″) (outdide 20″ x 48″)
The space bar is stamped with Caradco and 79-1, the glasses is double panes. it was installed in 1978 0r 17978.
I am trying to identify the model number to try to find out if I can buy a new replacement complete window or a sash.
could you please help identify the model number, what do you have available for replacement (entire window or sah only) and the price.

Your help is very much appreciated.
    Frustrated Caradco window owner 🙂

Samia, The number doesn’t tell us anything about the model. 79-1 is January 1979 when the glass was made. However, the C-200 series was the most popular model for Caradco in the late 70’s and the profile is very unique compared to other models/brands. There are pictures in our sash profile catalog under Caradco, and you can complete an order request online at https://fenstersusa.com. Or you are welcome to send pictures and measurements to our sales dept. at sales@fensterusa.com. Thank you!

Ryan, I have 6 Caradco windows that the seal is broken I guess on them? The cloudiness is in between the windows and can’t be cleaned? What do I do?

    Reply
    • Ryan Schwartz

Tonya, If you don’t have any other issues, your best option is have a local glass company replace the glass for you. The glass itself is not brand specific. While I would love to sell you something, shipping and glass do not get along with each other.

Do you know if Caradco 916 casement windows were made with tempered glass? Our home was completed in December of 1989, and we are the second owners. We have these windows in our home in the Master Bath above the Jacuzzi. Caradco 916 is stamped on the frame. Windows are great, with no issues, but upon the pre-building inspection before putting our home on the market, we were told that these windows should be made with tempered glass as a safety precaution. No one has fallen out of these windows or broken them in the past 26 years, but for some reason, it is now an issue. Any help/answer would be appreciated.

Lois, Yes that is correct. Above a tub would be a spot for tempered glass. That is a code requirement. Probably a mistake by the original builder. What I do know, is per universal building code, if you purposefully replace that glass, or the whole window, then you would have to bring that window up to code. Now, what I can’t say for sure is, can a new buyer force you to change that glass even though its original to the house?

Thank you for your response. However, I still am seeking an answer as to whether Caradco 916 casement windows were made with tempered glass. I have searched for an answer to this question with no success. Thought you guys might know since you seem very well educated regarding Caradco and might have access to info. that the general population does not. Home was completed in December of 1989. Thank you.

      • Ryan Schwartz

Lois, yes of course they were if the situation required it.

I need several window screens for Caradco wood windows circa 1993. The windows are still excellent but the screens are shot. The rough measurement of the actual screens are 35 3/4″ X 54 3/4″ and have the spring loaded pull pins that lock in the window groove. Any chance?

John, Many small chain hardware stores like Ace, or DO-IT best or even mom and pop shops in smaller town usually all have screen shops.

We have Caradco double hung wood windows. And they are awesome!!! I’m thinking they are original (1970’s)…. But this weird plastic pully system kills me! Lol
3 out of 13 windows have small cracks in them.
Is the investment in new windows going to be worth it? (I don’t want to down grade and still get double hung/wood). Should I just get new glass for the cracked ones?
Does this plastic pully system identify their age?

Hi Melissa, It seems to be a little known fact that the glass can easily be replaced in most windows. Completely replacing your windows is totally un-necessary if you just need the glass replaced. In fact, any local glass company can mostly likely do that for you. New replacement glass does not have to be brand specific, meaning, you don’t need “caradco” glass for a proper repair. I would Google glass repair and replacement companies in your area and see what they can do for you.

We had Caradco windows placed in our new home in 1997. Many of the windows are fogged over and one patio door is completely rotted out on the base . Are they still under warranty this happened many years ago and have decided enough is enough since we cannot see out most of the windows.

    • Ryan Schwartz

Hi Jennifer, Don’t quote me on this, but I believe any Caradco warranties through Jeld-We expired at least 10 years ago. We can’t help much with the patio door. Usually it’s better to replace those. The windows we may be able to help. I invite you to visit our website https://www.fensterusa.com and read up on our product lines to see if any would be beneficial to you.
